WELCOME
TO THE NICUOLOGY BLOG
Hi! I'm Caroline, mama of 4, including my littlest, Baby T, who was born at 33 weeks in Summer 2019.
I feel very lucky. We were on NICU for just over three weeks, and the team looking after Baby T were amazing. Even so, during our stay and after discharge I felt really isolated from the usual experience of Motherhood.
So many families experience a NICU stay yet it's still not part of the normal pregnancy or parenting dialogue. The impact of a NICU stay (however long or short, and regardless of the outcome) is life changing and, I think, needs to be more openly spoken about.
By writing about my experience I hope I can help others going similar times. Even if I offer a glimmer of hope to one other parent, then this blog has served its purpose.

So, pregnancy, delivery, NICU itself, body image, mental health, motherhood, siblings, parenting - I hope we can cover it all. And more.

Wouldn't it be lovely if we could create a NICU community, to offer support and raise awareness of the issues surrounding a NICU stay, so that NICU parents can be treated with sensitivity and understanding?
